Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy is now a two-time Vezina Trophy winner.
The NHL on Saturday named Vasilevskiy as the 2025-26 recipient of the honor, which is awarded 'to the goaltender adjudged to be the best at his position,' as selected by league general managers.
Vasilevskiy received 17 first-place votes and 114 points to easily outdistance New York Islanders netminder Ilya Sorokin (eight, 51) and Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman (two, 46).Vasilevskiy, 31, led all goaltenders with 39 wins, while his 2.31 goals-against average was second-best in the NHL. A six-time finalist, Vasilevskiy previously won the award in 2018-19 after going 39-10-4 with a 2.40 GAA and .925 save percentage.
Sorokin, 30, posted a 29-24-2 record with a league-best seven shutouts, a 2.68 GAA and .906 save percentage this season. He was bidding to become the first Islanders goalie to win the award since Hall of Famer Billy Smith in 1981-82.
Swayman, 27, went 31-18-4 with a 2.71 GAA and .908 save percentage this season. The first-time finalist led the league with 38 starts while delivering at least a .900 save percentage.
Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck won both the Vezina Trophy and Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP last season.
