According to an article published by the American Heart Association, Get giggling is one of the ways to reduce stress, and many studies have also shown that laughter contributes to health.
Dallas, TX (Merxwire) - Life is full of all kinds of pressure, whether happy or unhappy. For example, queuing to buy delicious food, although it is a happy thing to buy delicious food, we may feel pressure while waiting. Or, people will feel pressure on bills that are about to expire. To reduce stress, we can do something happy and make ourselves laugh to get a better psychosomatic feeling.
Laughter is not just an emotional response to the environment, situation, and stimuli. Current research shows that laughter has quantifiable positive physiological benefits. Laughter relaxes the body and relieves tension and stress. In addition, laughter can increase the immune system, thereby increasing people's resistance to diseases.
Laughter and happiness are related. People laugh when they are happy, and when they laugh, their body releases endorphins, promoting overall well-being and even temporarily relieving pain. Dr. Robin Dunbar from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom conducted an experiment in which he asked the subject to watch funny cartoons. The results showed that the subject's pain tolerance became higher.
Laughter improves blood vessel function and increases blood flow, which helps prevent heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems. According to a University Of Maryland Medical Center study, people with heart disease are 40% less likely to laugh in various situations than people without heart disease (of the same age).
"The ability to laugh-either naturally or as learned behavior may have important implications in societies such as the US where heart disease remains the number one killer," says Michael Miller, MD, FACC, director of the Center for Preventive Cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Current medical research shows that laughter can burn calories. Laughing for 10 to 15 minutes a day can burn about 40 calories. Although laughter doesn't consume many calories, if you don't want to go to the gym this week, look for a comedy movie to watch! Keep a happy mood and laugh a lot, and you can burn a lot of calories every year.
Laughter even affects the length of a person's life, and some evidence also supports that laughter is related to longevity. A study published in Psychosomatic Medicine conducted a 15-year follow-up of humor and cause of death. The findings indicate that sense of humor is a health-protecting cognitive coping resource.
Did you laugh today? Try to do happy and laugh things to reduce life/work stress and promote psychosomatic health.
