Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage in Taichung totaled 9 days and 8 nights, starting at 23:05 on April 9th УЂтЌтЙУЂтЌтЙand ending at 23:35 on April 18th. The whole process went smoothly, and the ceremony was completed.
Taichung, Taiwan (Merxwire) - The Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage in the third month of the lunar calendar is the largest and most important event of the year at Dajia Jenn Lann Temple, during which various religious ceremonies are held as the process of connection and pray for the worshipper. 2021 Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage travels through 4 counties and 21 towns, and the journey totals 340 kilometers. Dajia Jenn Lann Temple is full of the worshipper from morning to night, and temple gods from various counties and cities also come to pay their respects. In the square of Jenn Lann Temple, different palaces and temples have always been visited, and traditional shows will also appear, including Dragon and lion dance, ethnic dance, sword and stunt performances, etc.
Except for a few rest periods at night, Dajia Mazu will always act and go to various towns and temples to bring blessings to everyone. Temple staff will take turns carrying the sedan chair to maintain physical strength and schedule. Stores and residents along the way respect Mazu and pray that Mazu can protect world peace and family health.
During the nine days and eight nights, the staff measured body temperature every day, thoroughly implemented the disinfection strategy, and reminded participants to wear masks. Meals prepared at various snack stations also use lunch boxes to prevent coronavirus. At the same time, Jenn Lann Temple also provides a live stream on Facebook & YouTube so that worshippers can participate in pilgrimage without going to the scene.
Mazu is a belief popular in the southeast coast of China, including Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, and regions such as Taiwan, Ryukyu, Japan, and Singapore. Regardless of your religion, as long as you have a kind and pious heart, you can participate in the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage.
Legend has it that Mazu has supernatural powers. When the family suffered a disaster at sea, Mazu rescued her father and then found her brother's body. Later, Mazu became a symbol of the sea god, and fishermen would pray to Mazu to protect their safety before going to the sea. The sea surrounds Taiwan, so most people believe in Mazu. Everyone believes that Mazu is kind and will pity and bless mortals.
