Pomodoro Technique is a method of time management founded by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s. The feature is to rest for 5 minutes after every 25 minutes of work. These time periods are called pomodoros.
Saint Paul, MN (Merxwire) - Have you calculated the time period of work? Some people are accustomed to work for half an hour and take a break, while a few prefer to work for an hour before taking a break. If you don't know which time management mode you are suitable for, maybe you can try the Pomodoro Technique, which is a time management method that takes a 5-minute break every 25 minutes of work.
Pomodoro Technique requires concentration
"Take a break after working for 25 minutes? My head is still thinking, and the work hasn't ended yet!" Most people think so. But have you thought about it? If you can't finish your work in 25 minutes, it may be due to your lack of planning or your lack of focus at work, making you unable to complete part of your work within 25 minutes.
Many people think that the first step in performing Pomodoro Technique is to take out a timer and set it directly for 25 minutes, then concentrate on work during this time, and then rest for another 5 minutes. When the time is up, set the next 25 minutes…… This way of understanding is simple, but implementation is very difficult.
Why? From the moment you enter the office, you will face countless internal and external disturbances, such as eating breakfast, chatting, meeting, colleagues looking for you, the boss suddenly assigning tasks, checking the mailbox, using a mobile phone, having afternoon tea, etc. Therefore, implementing Pomodoro Technique is not as simple as you think.
How to implement Pomodoro Technique
To implement Pomodoro Technique, you can learn 4 steps: plan, track, record, and improve.
1. Plan: Set clear goals and directions for work
2. Tracking: Track your own workflow
3. Record: record the work process to understand the effect
4. Improvement: propose improvements based on shortcomings
You can use "Today's Worksheet" to write down your daily to-do items and then use the above 4 steps to create a system that continuously improves and improves work efficiency.
Ideally, you can use Pomodoro Technique to control your daily time. Work, meetings, rest…… the importance and difficulty of each item, you can estimate the time, and try to complete the task within the estimated time.
Calculated by working 8 hours a day, people don't have many pomodoros available in a day. You may need to have meetings, go out, and eat during working hours, so how to master the pomodoros available to you every day is very important. Pomodoro Technique is just one of many time management methods. You can find the most suitable model according to your habits and needs.
