NEW YORK, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- New York City's latest COVID-19 test positivity rate on a seven-day average went up to 7.32 percent, compared with 7.20 percent one day earlier, Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, de Blasio said that there were 233 new hospital admissions and new cases of the coronavirus reached 3,254, adding that "Each day we're one day closer to the end of this crisis. Stay home if you're sick, practice social distancing, keep wearing a mask, and wash your hands."
During his press conference on Tuesday, he announced that 1,547,983 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the city, and 10,000 free hotel rooms provided to New Yorkers needing to self isolate.
Late Monday, the mayor tweeted that "We've administered more than 1.5 MILLION COVID-19 vaccine doses. This is a major milestone for our city, but we're not stopping there."
"We need a FULL supply, direct allocation of doses, and pharmaceutical companies to step up so we can get the job done," he added.
As of Monday afternoon, the coronavirus deaths added up to 28,888 and the confirmed cases 687,543 in NYC, according to The City, a project that tracks the spread of confirmed COVID-19 infections and fatalities in New York City, based on information provided by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the governor's office, The COVID Tracking Project and the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
