Taipei, Taiwan (Merxwire) - The KGI Charity Foundation, chaired by Taiwanese entrepreneur and philanthropist Angelo Koo, launched a Christmas shoebox charity program in cooperation with China Development Financial (CDF) to support school children in rural Taiwan.

The program delivered over 500 shoebox gifts to children in six school in Yunlin County, Chiayi County and Pingtung County. The KGI Charity Foundation said that over the past four years, the Christmas Shoebox program has reached over 2,000 school children in Taiwan. In addition to soliciting gifts, the foundation invites CDF employees as volunteers every year to pass the gifts to school children personally. In the charity program, donors prepare and collect shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies and other small gifts for school children.

The KGI Charity Foundation was founded by KGI Securities, a CDF subsidiary, in 2012 to help disadvantaged members of the society with a special focus on underprivileged children. In addition to the Christmas charity program, the foundation has also funded English lessons and school lunches for children in Taiwans Taitung, Chiayi and Pingtung counties for six years. Angelo Koo currently serves as the chairman of the foundation. He donated in his personal capacity one million surgical masks to New Jersey in April.

To support the global efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the KGI Charity Foundation donated surgical masks to Japan in May. Angelo Koo also, in his own capacity, donated one million surgical masks to New Jersey in April.

Angelo Koo is a key figure in Taiwans financial sector and a philanthropist. He donated in his personal capacity one million surgical masks to New Jersey in April.
